BIG MIX Jam 4 Diversity 2018

Dec 3, 2018

For the first time, the Mix Brasil Festival of Culture of Diversity had a program focused on games. Named BIG Diversity, the initiative consisted of a small sample of independent games developed in Brazil and the Netherlands with the theme of diversity, a lecture on script and construction of LGBTI characters in games, and a game jam with the theme diversity. The game jam was called BIG Mix Jam [4] Diversity, the first Diversity Game Jam in Brazil.

BIG Diversity is a partnership between Mix Brasil, the BIG Festival – the largest independent games festival in Latin America, Abragames – Brazilian Association of Digital Game Developers, and the Games [4Diversity] foundation in the Netherlands.

The participants of BIG Mix Jam [4] Diversity were 15 developers who met at the British School of Creative Arts, EBAC, between the 16th and 17th of November 2018 to create games with the theme of Mix Brasil, (r) Existo #PensoLogoResisto (I think, therefore I resist). The game jam was conducted by Eline Muijres, from Games [4Diversity], from the Netherlands.

The Diversity Games Exhibition took place at Centro Cultural São Paulo and consisted of the following games: Florescer (PugCorn), Dandara (from Long Hat House), UNSIGHTED (Studio Pixel Punk), Herald (Wispfire) and Fragments of Him (Sassybot Studios).

Finally, games were also part of MixLab Spcine, a meeting that aims to exchange experiences and professional relationships, through presentations, lectures and debates. CINE GAME: from the cinema script to the game, Arthur Protasio, screenwriter from Fableware Narrative Design and TV Globo, and Tiani Pixel, game developer and CEO Studio Pixel Punk, participated and were moderated by Marina Pecoraro, creator of BIG Diversity.
