Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the event take?

The Pride usually takes one afternoon, from 13:00 to 18:00. Afterwards, we like to do more celebrating at the many street parties Utrecht has during the Pride.

Do I have to dress up and do cosplay?

No. Please wear what is comfortable for you! Many participants like to dress up as game characters, sometimes of a different gender. We like to be a colorful bunch!

What is the ticket money spent on?

As a foundation, we rely on sponsors and donations to make the Pride boat happen. With a tight budget of €5000, we are able to organize our boat. The boat rent is the largest chunk of our expenses, followed by the rent of the stage parts and audio setup. 

What about safety?

Our boat comes with 2 professional skippers, who will keep an eye on all participants to make sure everyone is safe. 

What can I expect?

As a participant, we take care that you have a blast! We have a decorated boat, music, and drinks (beer, wine & non-alcoholic). 

I'm heterosexual, can I join?

Yes! We are inclusive & want to bring people together to have a good time: Dutch ‘gezelligheid’ is our goal. An important part of Pride is showing the LGBTQ+ community that you see them and you support them. Some people feel more comfortable joining the boat together with their (straight) friend. 

Is the boat wheelchair accessible?

Yes and no – we can’t drive wheelchairs on the boat, so we’ll carry them with a couple of strong people. 😊 You can sit in your wheelchair while on the boat.

Is there a toilet on the boat?

Yes. However, we advise you to use a toilet before you enter the boat. The toilet is very small and not particularly comfortable.
